This heart pendant is crafted in 18k gold (750) and set with a London blue topaz surrounded by a halo of rubies. London blue is the darkest natural grade of topaz, closer to ink than to sky, which is what lets the red of the halo stand against it.

Blue and red together is an unusual pairing in fine jewelry and it makes this pendant read as designed rather than assembled. Wear it on a fine chain so the color contrast is what you see first.
